From the state of decay in which the Church was in the 18th century, it was completely rebuilt in 1777 in Baroque style by the vanvitellian school according to a reworking of the model offered by the Church of Jesus in Rome, while the interior with its stucco decorations was entrusted to the work of Maestro Terzani. Once completed in 1844-46, the earthquake of 1915 destroyed its facade, then rebuilt between 1920 and 1930 with two bell towers designed by Antonino Liberi. It represents a unique and successful example of stylistic medley.
